Pastor to Bastard: a simple phrase to the eye but a complex statement to unfold. Once cherishing the idea of a loving god and the theology of Christianity that was presented to him at a young age Matt DeBenedictis took to the life of pastorship. He spent times on planes, buses, and cars traveling the country as a preacher until he found a home in Atlanta as the assistant-pastor of Revolution Church alongside Rev. Jay Bakker.

Times change and questions once buried surface to the light; once a man of faith has now become a bastard* with no deity to rest sorrows upon. He’s fine with this and wants to talk about it.

A man with no reverence towards scripture has no desire to write expositions or create chatter on it. A man living in the bible belt as an atheist knows he’s not alone, even if he’s outnumbered, but that’s no reason not to tell the stories of life behind the pulpit and the years removed from it.

* It must be noted that Matt DeBenedictis has been commonly referred to as a bastard in the asshole-tense
